Erwitt, Elliott; Essay by Sam Holmes, Introduction by John Szarkowski. Anti-Photographs and Photographs Greenwich Ct, New York Graphic Society, 1972, First Edition ed, Hard Cover, Condition: Very Good/Very Good, Paris born of Russian decent Erwitt, came to Hollywood Calif at 10. A member of Magnum Photo since 1953; the quality of his work achieved quick recognition from such mentors as Steichen, Roy Styker and Robert Capa. One of his most noted photos was during the Civil Rights era in the United States. The image two water fountains: a newer one labeled WHITE, the second fountain is much older and labled COLORED. Elliott Erwitt’s images are much admired for their levity, and juxtaposition of characters, especially man & animal, and anecdotal moments. Mr. Erwitt’s work continues to be exhibited in museums and galleries. One hundred and thirteen full page photographs. Black cloth boards and spine, silver lettering to spine. DJ not price clipped, black and white pictorial. Upper spine end closed tear, 3/4 inch and 1/4 inch closed tears to rear upper edge. All else clean, no incriptions.
