Robinson, Ione. A Wall to Paint on New York, E. P. Dutton & Co., 1946, First Edition ed, Hard Cover, Condition: Very Good/Very Good, Ione Robinson, (b) 1910 Portland, Oregon. One of America's most colorful mural painters. At 16 she studied art in New York, becoming close to great artists and writers of the time: Max Eastman, Frank Lloyd Wright, Orozco, John Dewey, Crowninshield, Liam O'Flaherty, Paul Robeson, Steichen, George Biddle and countless others, which she writes of and their influence on her. She received her start in the Art world as the assistant to Rockwell Kent, who se assisted in illustrating Voltaire's "Candide." Later in Europe she developed her passion for mural painting, which lead her to Mexico where she became a protege of Diego de Rivera (1931-32) and worked on the murals in the Palacio Nacional in Mexico City. 24 pages of illustrations. Tan cloth boards, hand illustration to lower board, red lettering to spine, few pale soil marks. DJ not price clipped, brown pictorial, closed tear to head of spine, few closed edge tears.
